Products
Add a product, set its price and options, choose how buyers get it, and put it on sale.
A product is anything you sell more than once: a mug, a glaze kit, a downloadable PDF. Each one has a page with pictures, a description and a price, and can come in variants like sizes or colours. You manage them all in Commerce → Products.
Add a product
Go to Commerce → Products and select Add product.
Fill in the Add a product dialog:
- Name, for example "Speckled stoneware mug".
- Category, from Lahuta's list: Handmade, Home & living, Art, Digital and so on. Buyers can filter by it in the Lahuta shop.
- How buyers get it: Posted to the buyer, Collected from you or Downloaded. You can change this later.
- Price for one of it. Options can price each combination separately later.
Select Create. The product's page opens on the Overview tab. New products start as Draft, so nobody sees them until you're ready.
The Overview tab
- Details. Name, Link, Category and Description. Link is the last part of the product's web address, so changing it breaks links people already have. The Let other shops feature it switch lets other organizations list this product, and is one of the conditions for appearing in the Lahuta shop. Orders and payment still come to you. Select Save changes when done.
- Price. Price, Compare-at price and an optional SKU, saved with Save price. The compare-at price shows crossed out next to the price. This card only shows while the product has no options. Once it has options, each variant gets its own price on the Variants tab.
- Specifications. Name and value pairs like "Material: Stoneware" or "Capacity: 12 oz". Select Add specification for each line, then Save. They show under a "Features" heading on the product page.
- Status. Whether buyers can see and buy it. See Put it on sale.
- Pictures. Upload or pick pictures. The first one is the cover in your shop. Changes save as you make them.
- How buyers get it. The delivery method and shipping cost, described below. Changes save as you make them.

Delivery method
| Delivery method | What happens |
|---|---|
| Shipped | The buyer enters an address and you post it. |
| Picked up | The buyer collects it from your pickup address. |
| Shipped or picked up | The buyer chooses at checkout. |
| Downloaded | The buyer gets a file or link by email as soon as they pay. |
For shipped products, Shipping cost decides what the buyer pays for postage:
- Store default uses the rate in Store settings.
- Flat rate charges an amount you type, per item.
- Calculated by weight quotes carrier rates at checkout. Every variant needs a weight.
- Free shipping charges nothing.
The Variants tab
Use variants when a product comes in different versions, like a mug in three glazes and two sizes.
In the Options card, select Add an option. Name it, for example "Glaze", and type each value, like "Slate", "Oat" and "Moss", pressing Enter after each. A product can have up to 3 options.
The table below lists every combination as a variant. For each one, set the Price and optionally the Compare at price, SKU and picture. Shipped products also have a Weight column, in oz, lb, g or kg. Downloaded products have a File column where you paste a link or select Upload.
Select Save variants. Variants you removed are deleted when you save. Discard throws away your changes.
A variant's picture comes from the product's own pictures, so add those on the Overview tab first.
Put it on sale
| Status | What buyers see |
|---|---|
| Draft | Nothing. It isn't in your shop and can't be bought. |
| Active | It's on sale. Buyers can see it and buy it. |
| Archived | Hidden from your shop and can't be bought. Its orders remain. |
When something would stop the product selling, a warning at the top of its page names the fix and links to it:
- It has a price and Stripe isn't connected. Select Connect Stripe.
- It's shipped with carrier rates and your store has no ship-from address.
- It can be picked up and your store has no pickup address.
- It uses carrier rates and a variant has no weight.
- It's downloaded and a variant has no file.
Lahuta won't let you set a product to Active until these are fixed.
Find and arrange products
The Products list has a search box, tabs for All, Active, Drafts and Archived, and a category filter. When no search or filter is applied and all your products fit on one page, drag a product by its handle to change the order your shop shows them in.
To delete a product, open the ⋮ menu on its row or on its page and select Delete. Orders already placed keep their own record of what was sold. If you might sell it again, archive it instead.
