Collections
Group products into named shelves, put them in order, and show them on your own website.
A collection is a named shelf of products in the order you choose. Northside Pottery might keep one for "Mugs", one for "Glaze kits" and a seasonal "Holiday gifts". A product can sit on as many collections as you like, and each collection keeps its own order, separate from your main product list.
You manage them in Commerce → Collections.
Where collections show
Collections are for your own website. Through the Org API, your site can list your collections and show the products on each one, in your order. See Sell products on your site.
Your Express Page doesn't use them. Its Products block always shows all your active products.
Create a collection
Go to Commerce → Collections and select New collection.
Enter a Name, and optionally a Description and an Image. The name also sets the collection's web address, so renaming it later moves that address.
Leave Show on the storefront on, or turn it off while you're still arranging the shelf. A hidden collection isn't shown anywhere.
Select Create, then open the collection from the list.
Select Add products, tick the products you want, and select Add. They're added to the end of the shelf.
Arrange a collection
On a collection's page, each product has buttons to move it up, move it down or remove it from the shelf. Removing a product from a collection doesn't delete it from your shop.
To change the order of the collections themselves, open the ⋮ menu on a row in Commerce → Collections and select Move up or Move down.
What shows on a shelf
- Only Active products appear to visitors. You can add a draft ahead of time. It's marked "Not on sale yet" in the picker and shows up once you set it to Active.
- Archived products are marked "No longer sold". They stay on the shelf in the dashboard but visitors don't see them.
- A collection with Show on the storefront off shows a Hidden badge in the dashboard.
Edit or delete a collection
Open a collection and use the ⋮ menu. Edit details reopens the name, description, image and Show on the storefront switch. Delete removes the shelf. The products on it stay in your shop.
