Services
Sell work you do for each buyer, in up to three packages, with a brief from the buyer and delivery through Lahuta.
A service is work you do to order. Northside Pottery takes commissions: a custom dinner set, a memorial urn, a run of mugs with a café's logo. The buyer picks a package, tells you what they need, and pays up front. You deliver the work through Lahuta, they can ask for changes, and the order completes when they accept it.
For one-off prices you agree in a conversation, send a custom offer instead.
Services live under Commerce → Services.
Add a service
Connect Stripe
Services are paid up front, so connect Stripe first. See Get paid.
Create it
Go to Commerce → Services and select Add service. Enter a Name, choose a Category, and set a Price and a Delivery time in days, from 1 to 365. Select Create service.
The service opens on its Overview tab as a Draft, with one package at that price.
Describe it
In the Details card, write the Description buyers read on the service page, then select Save changes. Add Pictures on the right. The first picture is the cover.
Set up packages
On the Tiers tab, set what each package includes. See Packages.
Put it on sale
Back on Overview, change Status to Active. If Stripe isn't connected yet, Lahuta says so and points you to Store settings.
The Overview tab
- Details. Name, Link, Category, Description and the Let other shops feature it switch. Link is the last part of the service's web address, so changing it breaks links people already have. The switch lets other organizations list the service, and is one of the conditions for appearing on
lahuta.org/services. - Status. Draft keeps it hidden. Active puts it on sale. Archived hides it and stops new orders, but its orders remain.
- Pictures. Saved as you change them.
Categories come from a fixed list: Design, Marketing, Development, Writing & translation, Video & animation, Music & audio, Business, Consulting, Photography, Coaching, Wellness, Education, Legal, Finance, Real estate, Events, Home services, Beauty, Tech support and Other.
Packages
A service can offer one to three packages, called tiers in the dashboard. With one, the Tiers tab shows a single Price card. Select Add a tier to offer more, like Northside's "Small set", "Full dinner set" and "Dinner set with serving pieces".
Each tier has:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Name | Needed once there are two or more tiers. Each must be different. |
| Price | At least $1. |
| Delivery time | Days, 1 to 365. Counted from when the buyer pays. |
| Revisions | How many changes the buyer can ask for, 0 to 20. |
| Description | What the buyer gets at this price. |
| What it includes | One line per item. Select Add a line for each. |
Reorder tiers with the up and down buttons, remove one with its trash button, and select Save tiers.
What buyers see
Each active service has a page at lahuta.org/services/<your-slug>/<service-link>. It also appears in the Services block on your Express Page, and on lahuta.org/services when you're listed on Discover.
On the service page, the buyer:
- Picks a package, if there's more than one, and sees its delivery time, revisions and what's included.
- Writes their brief in Requirements, under "Tell the seller what you need". This is how they tell you sizes, colours, dates or anything else. Say in your description what you need them to include.
- Selects Order, which shows the price, and pays at checkout. They need a Lahuta account to order, and are asked to log in if they aren't.
Message seller opens a chat with you instead. It lands in your Inbox, where you can reply or send a custom offer.
Getting paid
The buyer pays when they order. The payment is held until the order completes, then paid out to your Stripe account. An order completes when the buyer accepts your delivery, or seven days after your latest delivery if they don't ask for changes. See Service orders.
