Campaigns
Send a one-off email or text to the contacts or group rows you pick, now or at a time you choose.
A campaign is one email or one text, sent to a set of people. Use it for announcements: a new batch of glaze kits, a studio sale, a spring class schedule. For a series of messages that go out over time, use a sequence. For people who signed up to hear from you regularly, use the newsletter.
A campaign always starts from the people it's for. Marketing → Campaigns lists the ones you've made.
Start a campaign
Go to CRM → Contacts, or open a group, and select the people you want. To include everyone of that kind, choose Select all in the bar.
In the bar, select Email or Text. Text only shows once your organization has a texting number. A draft opens.
Name the campaign. The name is for you and your team, not the people receiving it.
Check the Audience. Below it, Lahuta counts the contacts and how many it can reach, for example "48 contacts · 45 reachable by email · 3 without an email".
For an email, choose who it's From, write the Subject and write the letter. To start from a saved letter, use the Template menu next to From. For a text, write the message.
Select Send. Choose Send now, or pick a day and time under "Or send it later" and select Schedule.
The draft saves as you type. The line at the bottom says Saved, or tells you what's missing before it can send, like "Write a subject."
Choose the audience
The audience keeps the kind it started with, but you can adjust it in the draft:
- Picked contacts. Select Edit selection to add or remove people.
- Everyone. If you used Select all, it goes to every person or every company in your address book.
- A group. Choose Everyone in the group or one of the group's saved views. Select Only some rows to pick rows, or Use the whole group to go back to all of them.
Who's in the audience is worked out again when the campaign sends, so it includes people added since you wrote it. Archived contacts are left out.
Who it's from
The From list has your organization's Lahuta address, shown with your organization's name, and any mailboxes you've connected with Google or Microsoft. Connect one in Email settings so campaigns come from your own address.
A connected mailbox can send to up to 500 people per campaign. For a bigger audience, send from your Lahuta address.
Personalize the message
In an email, type / in the letter to insert a value. In a text, use the Personalize menu. Each value is written as a merge tag like {{lahuta:first_name}}, which becomes the recipient's own value when it sends.
| Merge tag | Filled with |
|---|---|
{{lahuta:first_name}}, {{lahuta:last_name}} | A person's name. |
{{lahuta:job_title}}, {{lahuta:birth_date}} | A person's job title or birth date. |
{{lahuta:company}} | The first company a person is linked to. |
{{lahuta:name}} | A company's name. |
{{lahuta:email}}, {{lahuta:phone}}, {{lahuta:url}}, {{lahuta:address}} | Their first email, phone, website or address. |
{{lahuta:linkedin}}, {{lahuta:description}} | Their LinkedIn link, or what you wrote about them. |
{{lahuta:unsubscribe_url}} | A link to stop your marketing email. Email only. |
A campaign to a group also offers the group's columns, except Files columns. The list only shows values your audience can have.
To print something when a value is missing, add it after a bar: {{lahuta:first_name|there}} reads "there" for anyone without a first name. Without a fallback, someone missing the value isn't sent the message and counts as Failed in the report.
Unsubscribes and texts
Every campaign email carries an unsubscribe link. If you don't place {{lahuta:unsubscribe_url}} yourself, a short line with an Unsubscribe link is added at the bottom. People who unsubscribed, marked your email as spam, bounced, or are on your suppression list are skipped. Manage that list in Email settings.
A text starts with your organization's name and ends with "Reply STOP to opt out", unless your message already says so. The counter under the message includes both and shows how many segments it takes. Anyone who replied STOP is skipped.
Your campaigns
Marketing → Campaigns has All, Drafts, Scheduled and Sent tabs, and Search campaigns….
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Still being written. Listed under Drafts. |
| Scheduled | Waiting for its send time. |
| Sending | Going out now. Listed under Scheduled. |
| Sent | Every message has gone. |
| Cancelled | Stopped before it went. Listed under Drafts. |
Each row's ⋮ menu has Duplicate, which copies it into a new draft, Cancel for a draft or scheduled campaign, and Delete for a draft or cancelled one. To save an email as a reusable letter, open the draft's ⋮ menu and choose Save as template…. See Templates.
The report
Open a scheduled or sent campaign to see its report: the channel, audience, when it sends or sent, and the numbers.
| Text | |
|---|---|
| Queued, Sent, Delivered | Queued, Sent, Delivered |
| Opened and Clicked, as a share of delivered | Failed |
| Bounced, Failed | Suppressed: replied STOP or on your block list |
| Suppressed: unsubscribed or on your block list | No phone |
If Opened and Clicked say "Not reported for this sender", opens and clicks can't be tracked for the address you sent from.
While a campaign is scheduled, select Cancel send to stop it. Duplicate is always there, to send something similar again.
