Connect your Gmail or Outlook mailbox to send campaigns from your own address, bring replies into your inbox, and manage who never gets marketing email.
By default, Lahuta sends your marketing email from an address made from your page address, such as northside-pottery@lahuta.org. Connect your own mailbox and campaigns, sequences and inbox replies can go out from your real address instead, like hello@northsidepottery.com. Replies to that mailbox can come straight into your Lahuta inbox.
Go to Settings → Email. The page has two tabs: Mailboxes and Do not email.
Connect a mailbox
You need to be an admin. The mailbox can be a Google account, such as Gmail or Google Workspace, or a Microsoft account, such as Outlook or Microsoft 365.
Choose your provider
On the Mailboxes tab, select Connect mailbox, then Google (Gmail, Workspace) or Microsoft (Outlook, 365).
Sign in and allow access
Sign in to the mailbox you want to send from and allow Lahuta to use it.
Check it's there
You come back to the Mailboxes tab, and the mailbox appears as a card within a few seconds. If something went wrong, you'll see "The mailbox was not connected". Try again.
You can connect more than one mailbox. When you write a campaign, a sequence or an inbox reply, you pick which address it comes from.
Mailbox settings
Each mailbox card shows the address and its provider.
Bring replies into the inbox. "Mail this mailbox receives from your contacts shows up as inbox conversations." Turn it off if you only want to send from this mailbox. Sending works the same either way.
Reconnect. If the card says "Action required: reconnect to keep sending", the connection to that mailbox has stopped working. Select Reconnect and sign in again. Anything waiting to send from that mailbox holds until you do.
Disconnect. Select the trash icon on the card, then Disconnect. "Campaigns and sequences that send from this mailbox will fail to send until another sender is chosen."
What sends from where
| Sent from | |
|---|---|
| Campaigns, sequences and email replies from your inbox | The mailbox you choose, or northside-pottery@lahuta.org |
| Receipts, tickets, booking confirmations and reminders | Lahuta, in your organization's name. You don't need a mailbox for these. |
| Notifications to your team | Lahuta. See Notifications. |
Do not email
The Do not email tab lists addresses that never get marketing email from you. Most get here on their own. You can add more yourself.
| Reason | How it got there | Can you remove it? |
|---|---|---|
| Unsubscribed | The person used the unsubscribe link in one of your emails | No. Only they can undo it. |
| Complained | The person marked your email as spam | No. Only they can undo it. |
| Bounced | Email to the address failed for good, for example it doesn't exist | Yes |
| Added by you | Someone on your team added it | Yes |
Unsubscribes and complaints only stop marketing email. Order and account email still reaches them. A bounced address gets nothing at all, because mail to it can't be delivered. A temporary problem, like a full mailbox, doesn't count as a bounce.
Filter the list with the reason menu, which starts on Any reason. Each row shows the Address, Reason and the date it was Added.
Add addresses
Select Add addresses.
Paste the addresses, one per line or separated by commas. Lahuta counts how many it recognises.
Select Add. "They stop receiving marketing mail straight away. Order and account mail still goes out."
Remove an address
Select the cross at the end of a Bounced or Added by you row, then Remove. The address "starts receiving marketing mail from you again." Rows you can't remove show a lock instead, with the note "Set by the recipient; only they can lift it".
