Templates
Write an email once, with its subject and letter, and start any campaign from it.
A template is a saved email: a subject and a letter you reuse. If Northside Pottery sends a "new classes this month" email every few weeks, write it once as a template and start each campaign from it instead of from a blank page.
Templates are for email campaigns. Find them in Marketing → Templates.
Create a template
Go to Marketing → Templates and select New template.
Give it a Name, like "Monthly update".
Choose who it's Written for. See the table below.
Select Create template. The template opens, empty.
Write the Subject and the letter. Type / in the letter to insert a personal value, like the recipient's first name.
Select Save changes. Templates don't save on their own, and Lahuta asks before you leave with unsaved changes.
Written for
Written for decides which personal values the template can use, and which campaigns can use the template.
| Written for | Values it can use | Offered in |
|---|---|---|
| Any audience | Only the unsubscribe link. | Every email campaign. |
| People | A person's details, like first name, job title and company. | Campaigns to picked people or to all your people. |
| Companies | A company's details, like its name. | Campaigns to picked companies or to all your companies. |
| A group | The details of the group's contacts, plus its columns. | Campaigns to that group only. |
For the full list of values, see Personalize the message. If the letter uses a value its audience doesn't have, Lahuta won't save it and names the value. Take it out, or change Written for to an audience that has it.
Use a template in a campaign
In an email campaign's draft, open the Template menu next to From and pick one. Only templates that fit the campaign's audience are listed. Manage templates takes you to this page.
If you've already written something, Lahuta asks before replacing it. Select Replace to swap in the template's subject and letter.
Using a template copies it into the campaign. Editing the template later doesn't change campaigns you've already written, and editing the campaign doesn't change the template.
Save a campaign as a template
If you've written a campaign you'll want again:
In the campaign's draft, open the ⋮ menu and choose Save as template….
Name it and choose who it's Written for. For a campaign to a group, the group is one of the choices.
Select Save template. The subject and letter are saved as they stand.
Manage templates
The templates page lists every template with its subject. Use Search templates… to find one by name, or the audience filter to see only templates written for People, Companies or a group.
Each row's ⋮ menu has Duplicate, handy for a seasonal variation, and Delete.
